CURRICULUM

Special Features of the School

Special features within the curriculum are three elements which lends uniqueness to this school in the Goldfields.  The values programme is based squarely upon an international programme called Character First, which aims to teach students the basis of good character for their own edification but also to help them grow into contributing, authentic members of the Australian society.

The Horticulture programme forms part of the secondary electives course and teaches students the principles of plant propagation and husbandry. This element marries with two other elements the college’s involvement with Kalgoorlie Boulder Urban Landcare Group and the Bushrangers WA Cadet programme.  Art and Dance is a sensible addition to the college. Students thoroughly enjoy these two subjects.

Our classes are relatively small in size and we have some room  in most classes(K-10) to take in new students for Semester 1/07.

In Secondary we have double stream groups in Years 8 and 9 and a single stream in Year 10.

Our specialist rooms for secondary students are:

  • Home economics
  • Science lab
  • Design and Technology Centre
  • Music room with individual instrument tuition labs

Special Distinctives:

  • Authentic Christian foundation
  • Character First
  • Loving and firm educational environment
  • The clear expectation of respect and care for one another in a supportive setting
  • Aviation…still in its infancy but with great aspirations.
  • Horticulture:  Our nursery is beginning to develop significantly
  • CALM Bushrangers:  An after school club which focuses upon conservation and land management.
