Sport

Sport is an excellent way to build on and make new relationships with peers.  The experiences and opportunities of being part of a team during sporting activities are priceless.  Students gain an understanding of how to care for their bodies, and make responsible choices, as well as learning about leadership, team work, competition and fair play.

At Goldfields Baptist College we are proud to offer a high quality Physical Education curriculum delivered by specialist PE teachers.

Some of the Sports on offer are:

  • Athletics
  • Fitness Testing
  • Cross Country
  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Touch Rugby

A variety of Sports Equipment, such as balls and skipping ropes, is also available for students to use during Recess times.

Primary Sport

All Primary College students have two PE lessons a week with a specialist PE teacher.  Upper Primary College students also participate in Inter-House and Inter-School Carnivals in Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics.

As extra-curricular opportunities, GBC offers the Baptist Basketball Club.

In-Term Swimming

At GBC the In-term Swimming program provides quality swimming classes for Pre-Primary to Year 6 students to ensure they have the opportunity to develop vital swimming and water safety skills.  Lessons are conducted each day, for a two week period by professional swimming coaches.

There are no costs involved in this program as it is run by the Department of Education and Training and the College covers the cost of accessing the Oasis swimming pool.

Secondary Sport

GBC has a growing Secondary Physical Education program where students are strongly encouraged to participate fully in various sports offered during the year.  Secondary College students participate in our Inter-House Carnivals for Swimming, Cross-Country and Athletics.

All students at GBC are strongly encouraged to participate in the yearly fun run.

Country Week

GBC endeavours to send a team to this event every year.  Country Week gives our students the opportunity to compete against other country secondary schools in a variety of different sporting activities.

Sports Studies

Secondary students who are particularly interested in Sport can also choose to do Sports Studies as an elective in addition to the normal PE program.
